Vidya Bharati Shaikshanik Mandal, Amravati’s Swatantrya Saianik Shri Kanhaiyalalji Ramchandra Innani Mahavidyalaya, Karanja lad, District Washim is one of the premiere education institutions of central India imparting education from UG to Ph. D. in Science, Arts and Commerce. The noted educationist and visionary Dr. Devisinghji Shekhawat along his spouse hon’ble Smt Pratibhatai Patil, former President of India has laid the foundation of the institute in the year 1983 to cater the need of education of the students of this rural area. Under the inspiring and dynamic leadership of the President Mr. Raosaheb Shekhawat the college has acquired fabulous success by conquering new peaks of excellence. The college due to its magnificent achievements in curricular, extracurricular activities, research and work in societal up-liftment was conferred a prestigious status of College with Potential for Excellence by UGC new Delhi in 2005 and also accredited by NAAC (Bangalore) with ‘A’ Grade (CGPA- 3.24).
The college besides UG, PG and Ph. D. programmes offered by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University also offers UG and PG programmes of Indira Gandhi Open University and Yashwantrao Chavan Open University to the students of the area. The college also offers UGC Career Oriented courses, Bridge courses and Certificate courses devised by the different departments of the college. The college identifies slow and fast learners in the beginning of the session and conducts Remedial courses for slow learners and advance coaching for fast learners. The college also provides UGC sponsored coaching for Competitive Examinations and coaching for NET /SLET.
The college has its own state of the art building with well equipped UG, PG and Research laboratories, ICT enabled Classrooms, rich Library with INFLIBNET connectivity, excellent Indoor and Outdoor sports facility, Yoga centre, Modern GYM and serene and ecofriendly campus. The college also provides free Wi-Fi access to students and staff in collaboration with Jio.
Since inception, the college has tapped the talents amongst the students and accordingly motivated them as a result numerous students of the college have acquired place in the merit list of the Universty and also outshined in various competitions organised by different Universities, Institutions and brought laurels to the college. Recently 03 students have acquired place in S. G. B. Amravati University Merit list. Ms. Roshan Sheikh, a student of B. A. III, was acclaimed by MIT college PUNE for her excellent talk on “Three Talaq” in a programme ‘World’s Student Parliament”. Ms. Megha Kotak, a student of B. Sc. III, was selected for the RD parade in New Delhi, Ms. Pooja Bonkile a student of M. A. II was selected for Transform Maharashtra Leadership Ambassador Programe 2018. A total of 24 students of senior college and 27 students of Junior college stood first in various subjects at college. The college has a rich tradition of felicitating meritorious students in a programme “Sanman”
The dynamic principal Dr. P. R Rajput with his illustrious academic career is efficiently leading the college towards new horizons of success, recently he was awarded two patents in the field of Chemical Sciences. He is a member of the advisory board of NSS of SGB Amravati University and Shri Shivaji College, Amravati. He is also a member of Executive Committee of Vidya Bharati Shaikshanik Mandal, Amravati. Almost all the faculty members have acquired Ph.D degrees in their respective fields and are engrossed in active research. Last year 5 faculty members have received Ph. D. degrees from SGB Amravati University, Amravati. The faculty members of the college last year have participated in 123 national international conferences/workshops and published 69 research papers in journals of Natonal and International repute.
In the month of March the college has organized an International Conference on Recent Trends in Science and Technology which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Smt. Pratibhatai Patil, former President of India. Dignitaries from all over the world attended the conference. The noted among them Dr. Devisinghji Shekhawat educationist and visionary, Dr. D. P. Singh, Chairman, UGC, New Delhi, Dr. Murlidhar Chandekar, Vice Chancellor, SGBAU, Amravati, scientists from Germany, France, Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, UK, Egypt, Japan etc. A total of 980 delegates from all over the globe have participated in the conference and more than 700 research papers were published in the proceedings published with an International interdisciplinary Research Journal Ayushi.
In order to curb the menace of ragging the college has produced a short film on Anti Ragging under the able guidance of the principal Dr. P. R. Rajput. This film was written and directed by Mr. Raja Gore a faculty member of the college.
The college in order to provide a publication platform for researchers has launched a Vidya Bharati International Interdisciplinary Research Journal.
